THERAPY
Making the decision to have therapy can be the single most important step you take towards understanding, accepting and supporting yourself in creating the life you want to live.
It provides you with a relationship that is unconditionally nurturing, non-judgemental and compassionate. In this safe and confidential space you can process the experiences, thoughts, feelings and/or beliefs that are currently causing you to suffer and/or that are preventing you from living the life that you long for and deserve.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
My hope is that therapy with me uncovers your sense of personal power and that you find the experience;
- Creates a deeper awareness of yourself, your experiences and the blocks and patterns that are impacting you, your relationships and your life
- Enables you to be with your thoughts, feelings and emotions without them overwhelming you and driving your actions
- Encourages you to be more compassionate and supportive of the process and transformation you are undergoing
- Provides you with tools, strategies and techniques that work for you and that enable you to access your emotional and personal well-being

THE WAY I WORK...
The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no one recipe for living that suits all cases.
As a Person-Centred Psychotherapist I believe that YOU are the ONLY expert on YOU and that my role as your therapist is to provide and hold a therapeutic space that helps you feel safe enough to process, explore and meet all of yourself at psychological depth.
I aim to offer you a relationship that is rich in compassion, empathy, transparency and an unconditional acceptance of all of who you are and what you are experiencing.
Decades of therapeutic research shows us that there is no one way to ‘do therapy’ and that different things work for different people at different times. With this in mind, whilst I won’t tell you what you ‘should’ do or pretend to be ‘the expert’ on you, I may tentatively offer you input, ideas, techniques, and/or strategies that may be of value to your process.
I draw upon techniques and strategies from a wide range of Psychological and Therapeutic modalities and theories. These include, but are not limited to, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Compassion Based Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Art & Creative Therapies, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Inner Child Work, Attachment Theory, NeuroScience, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness.
IS THERAPY FOR ME?
Therapy is useful for anyone who is wishing to process, release and/or shift the experiences of how they feel, think and behave. Some people seek therapy knowing exactly what it is that they want to process, whilst others come without being able to pinpoint what is troubling them but rather feeling a sense of dissatisfaction, unhappiness or stuckness in their lives.
It can be useful for you if:
- You are going through an emotional crisis at the moment and are looking for some nurturing support to help you through it
- You’re struggling with mental health issues (short term and long term) and are looking to unravel the complexity around them so that you can move beyond their grasp
- You want to process and resolve past traumas and experiences that are impacting your life in negative and/or destructive ways
- You want to make sense of yourself, your relationships and your life and/or to make some changes to your way of being
- You sense a higher purpose to your life and feel frustrated by the blocks preventing you from accessing any real change
ISSUES I WORK WITH
There are a wide range of ‘presenting issues, problems and experiences’ that may bring you to therapy and whilst the ‘issue’ is of importance, it is the relationship you are able to create with yourself struggling with the issue that is of more significance. As such, I work therapeutically with those who may be experiencing a wide range of difficulties/symptoms including but not limited to;
Addictions,
ADHD,
Anxiety,
Body image,
Behavioural difficulties,
Bereavement and Loss,
Childhood Abuse (Emotional, Physical, Sexual, Psychological)
Depression,
Fertility issues,
Life Changes,
Personal development (Physical, Emotional, Mental, Spiritual),
Personal Identity,
Relationship difficulties,
Sabotaging Behaviours,
Self Relationship Issues,
Stress and stress related health issues
HOW THERAPY WORKS
Therapy can be short, medium or long term depending upon your individual circumstances and needs. We can discuss what’s best for you when we meet.
To get the best out of the therapy you will need a willingness and readiness to commit to the process and to invest in yourself. Usually that means meeting with me once per week or bi-monthly for a period of time. It can also mean taking time each week to reflect upon and invest in your own therapeutic process.
I work online using zoom video call and each session is aprox 50 minutes, though I ask you to allow 60 minutes for your session so that we have a little time afterwards to wrap things up and go through any admin type tasks.
Once you contact me and we agree to work together I will send you a therapeutic contract which you’ll need to read and sign, this will more fully outline our therapeutic commitment to one another.
Once we’ve arranged a suitable day/time, I’ll book you in and send you a link to our zoom meeting.
I offer a free 20 min chat for anyone who is interested in working with me. The aim for this chat is to offer you the opportunity to ask any questions and get a better sense of who I am and how I work, so that you can determine if I am the right therapist for you.
