A Space To Process

More About Me

I am a deeply intuitive empath and a warm, honest, down-to-earth woman.  I have a deep  respect for the lessons life teaches us and believe wholeheartedly in the importance and value of processing these experiences so that we may evolve and grow individually and collectively.

I have spent my whole life feeling deeply into ALL of my emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences and many of those years getting completely lost in them and judging myself harshly for my  inability to fix, change or manage those that I deemed to be unacceptable or that created problems in my relationships with others.

As a result I spent decades suffering and stuck and completely overwhelmed by my thoughts and feelings; asking myself repeatedly why I seemed so unable to implement the many tools, strategies and techniques that I knew were supposed to help me to feel better.  What I know from working therapeutically with hundreds of individuals is that I’m not alone in this and that many (if not all) of us face a similar internal battle.

I realised that if I continued to ‘work on myself’ from a place of self judgement then any therapeutic tool I attempted to use could only take me so far, and that what I needed was to develop a different kind of relationship with myself and with all the emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences I was having.

With much trial and error I’ve been able to perfect the art of effectively being with and processing all of my experiences AND using them all as opportunities to know and understand myself more deeply and more authentically.  These days I wholeheartedly welcome all my experiences and fully embrace my process without seeing me or them as a problem.

I am a huge advocate for slowing down and taking space to process what your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences are trying to show you. I believe that however deeply painful or unwanted they may be, they always offer us an opportunity to know and care for ourselves more deeply. And when we can do that for ourselves, everything changes.

I’m certain that blending this deeper self awareness with the ability to show ourselves compassion and support is what enables us to step into alignment with our highest potential.

The work I do with others is a deep honour for me and I am grateful to each of the hundreds of clients I’ve had the privilege of supporting with their own processes.

I am a deeply intuitive empath and a warm, honest, down-to-earth woman.  I have a deep  respect for the lessons life teaches us and believe wholeheartedly in the importance and value of processing these experiences so that we may evolve and grow individually and collectively.

Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.

A Process not a Problem…

As an empath I have spent my whole life feeling deeply into ALL emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences and many of those years getting completely lost in them and judging myself harshly for my inability to ‘fix’, ‘change’ or ‘manage’ them.

After much trial and error I realised that if I continued to ‘work on myself’ from a place of self-judgement then any therapeutic tool I attempted to use could only take me so far. What I needed most was to develop a different kind of relationship with myself and with all the emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences I was having.

I have perfected the art of effectively processing all of my experiences and using them all as opportunities to know and understand myself more deeply and authentically. These days I wholeheartedly welcome all of my experiences and fully embrace my process without seeing me or them as a problem and my sense of wellbeing has naturally evolved.

Slowing Down...

I am a huge advocate for slowing down and taking space to process what your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences are trying to show you. I believe that however deeply painful or unwanted they may be, they always offer us an opportunity to know and care for ourselves more deeply.

I’m certain that blending this deeper self awareness with the ability to show ourselves compassion and support is what enables us to step into alignment with our highest potential.

HOW DID I GET HERE….

1999 – Graduated with a 2:1 Psychology/Biology Degree and went on to train as a Secondary School Teacher.

2000 – I qualified with a PGCE and started teaching in an inner city school in Liverpool, England. I realised pretty quickly that my passion and interest was in the emotional and psychological well-being of the teens I worked with, rather than in the Science I was teaching them.  This became a key focus of my career for many years as I took on various pastoral leadership roles supporting young people, teachers and parents with their emotional and psychological well-being.

2005 – I was feeling pretty disillusioned with life in the UK and wanted to do something brave and courageous so I quit my teaching job to go travelling in South America. It changed everything for me and challenged me in many VERY memorable ways. By the end of my trip I had decided to go back to University to do a Postgraduate Degree and train as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist.

2006 – Began an intense three year stretch of Counselling and Psychotherapy training in the Person Centred Approach.  It required me to undergo many hours of personal and group therapy, thousands of words of essay writing, reading and research and hundreds of hours volunteering as a trainee counsellor at various charities in the UK.

2009 – I knew I wanted to bring together my teaching experience and my newfound love and passion for Counselling and Psychotherapy and so I did both. I worked as a Counsellor with the NHS (National Health Service in the UK) and I taught on an Integrative Counselling Degree Programme supporting trainee counsellors in Skills Training and Personal Development.

I was loving my professional life but at the same time was still feeling the need to get out and explore the world….

2011 – I took a job setting up a Counselling Department at an International Boarding School in Malaysia and I found the perfect balance…travelling and exploring the world AND doing the counselling work that I loved.  I continued along this trajectory for 9 years working as a Counsellor in a number of International Schools throughout Asia and the Middle East.

2019 – Everything began to shift around me. I found myself becoming increasingly irritated by ‘school politics’ and I was beginning to hate going to work. With reflection I recognised that I wanted to work at a deeper therapeutic level with people and so honouring my intuition I took the plunge and left my job working for others and started my private practice in Vietnam, which began thriving almost immediately.

2020 – The massive shifts happening for me continued as I faced coming to terms with my infertility and the end of my marriage. At this time I knew I needed to further heal the limiting beliefs and the blocks and patterns within me that were causing me to suffer and that were preventing me from living in an openhearted and authentic way. And so I made a commitment to myself and fully embraced my own healing journey, slowing down my life so that I could mindfully invest in my own process and transformation. I shifted away from trying to manage ‘my issues’ in order to feel ‘good enough’ to mindfully, compassionately and lovingly being with myself whilst I processed what my being was experiencing.

Fast forward to 2024 and my private therapy practice is still thriving, though mostly online these days AND I am now thriving within myself. I know, love, support and understand myself so deeply that I am able to be in the world as my most authentic, intuitive, loving and compassionate self.

ON A MORE PERSONAL LEVEL

I AIM FOR BALANCE

The best thing about working for myself is that I get to decide what my days look like and I strive to find a balance between work and play.

When I’m not working with clients or creating content for programmes you’ll find me either spending time with ‘my’ people or happily spending time with myself. I’m a bit of an introvert and I love being with me… if you were to pop over you’d probably find me meditating, cooking some ‘hopefully’ gorgeous veggie/vegan dish, reading, writing, out on a long walk or more recently having fun doing some ocean running! On other days you might find me eating chocolate and crisps, watching netflix, having a beer or G&T or all of the above.

My balanced and simple life keeps me feeling happy and grounded and that makes me a much better me, so that when I do show up for others I can do it fully from my heart.

I LOVE THE FREEDOM OF TRAVEL

Back in 2005 when all my friends were settling down I knew it wasn’t the life I wanted for myself and so I set off travelling for a year in South America.  That year has morphed into a lifestyle of adventures travelling, living, embracing and working in many countries throughout our world. I am a long time expat and nomad with no real desire to return home to the UK, other than to visit family and friends.  For now, I’m living a simple life in a lovely town on the Aegean coast in Turkey and I’m loving the food, the culture and the nature here.

I LOVE LEARNING

I have a deep love of learning. I’m happy to say that I am learning and growing all the time and I’m thrilled by all the twists and turns that have kept me on my toes throughout the years. I’m in awe of the process. For me learning is ‘what it’s all about’, for us to create and have experiences, to process and learn from them so we can grow more connected with our authentic self.  This plays a huge part in how I work with my clients, I advocate for adopting a gentle mindful approach so that we can explore the vital learning that is underway.

I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HEART

I have a deeply intuitive, sensitive and empathic heart that naturally sees the beauty within all things and wants to connect and help others.  It’s why my work is so perfect for me. I am trusted with the intimate world of my clients and my intuitive ability to see, understand and accept them wholeheartedly means that we can connect deeply and with ease, making the process of ‘doing therapy’ feel so natural to me.
